The Salon of Original Works is a festival of staged readings and productions based on themes of original works initiated by students of the Theatre Faculty of the Janáček Academy of Performing Arts in Brno with a thirty-year tradition.

On the basis of a public call for submissions, the Faculty of Theatre is collecting original texts from students at the beginning of the year. Afterwards, an Exchange of Original Texts is organised, where any student can choose a specific text, which they will then develop into a stage reading or a theatre production.

During the two-day festival, these artistic outputs are then presented at the faculty. As an accompanying festival programme we organise a series of discussions, lectures and workshops.

The Salon of Original Creation festival provides a space for students of all disciplines to present their own dramatic artistic creations. It naturally encourages and increases the motivation to create, whether it is writing dramatic texts or their subsequent interpretation through directing, dramaturgy and acting.
