Dramatic Acting

The admissions process tests acting talent, acting in a dramatic situation, speaking skills (poetry, prose) and singing and movement disposition.

Maximum number of applicants accepted: 14

Applications must be submitted by 30 November 2025.

The 1st round of entrance examinations for the four-year Master’s degree will take place during January 2026.
The 2nd and 3rd rounds of entrance examinations for the four-year Master’s degree will take place during February-April 2026.

These dates are indicative, the faculty has the right to change the time frame in which the admission procedure will take place. The exact date of the admissions examination can be found in the invitation to the admissions procedure.

  • Annex No. 1 – copy of the school leaving certificate or catalogue list of grades (in case you have not yet passed the school leaving certificate, you will send a copy of the school leaving certificate afterwards, after you have passed the school leaving certificate) – this is not a simple confirmation of studies.
  • Annex 2 – structured CV in Czech language.
  • Annex 3 – medical certificate of fitness to study at university (form available for download here). Medical certificate is required due to the mental and physical demands of studying. Subjects such as dance, acrobatics, fencing, etc. are part of the curriculum. Therefore, good mental and physical fitness, flexibility, strength, endurance, etc. are a requirement.
  • Annex 4 – current certificate of phoniatric examination (download the form here). The confirmation is required due to the demands of the studies in terms of intensive solo and choral singing lessons.
  • Appendix 5 – 2 recent photographs of yourself in minimum format 9x13cm (1x portrait, 1x figure)

It is not possible to submit the application without uploading the required attachments!

  • strong talent requirements for their chosen field,
  • a full secondary education or a full vocational secondary education with a secondary school leaving certificate,
  • intellectual aptitude (ability to make independent judgements, good level of general knowledge, strong interest in the chosen field of study),
  • good health and physical disposition.

In accordance with Section 48, subsection 2 of the Act, applicants who have not attained secondary education with a matriculation examination or higher vocational education at a conservatory may exceptionally be admitted to study the four-year Master’s degree programme in Acting, specialisation Drama Acting. Academic degrees are awarded to them pursuant to Section 46 of Act No.111/1998 Coll., on Higher Education only after they have completed secondary education with a matriculation examination or higher vocational education at a conservatory.

Focus: basic technical, physical (exercise equipment with you) and vocal disposition, basic acting disposition

The Commission verifies in the applicants in the first round the basic physical and psychological disposition on the cultivation of which the acting profession is based – a spatially supportive vocal fund and impeccable pronunciation, movement, gesture and facial expression, natural expression, acting imagination, quick reactions and the ability to improvise.(In case of excessive indisposition and lack of preparation of the candidate – the committee will also give a negative evaluation immediately during the rehearsal.)

Entrance exams are conducted for all applicants in Czech language!

Detailed requirements for Round 1

Singing part

One song of your choice – regardless of genre. Plus one folk song (a capella). Must be sung in Czech (the committee may decide on the spot not to perform both songs). The background music can be supplied on FLASH DISK, MP3 media with a link to a PC, and in MP3, CDA, WMA, WAV formats or a link to the Internet.
If interested in piano accompaniment, the candidate will bring sheet music with at least a melodic line and chord markings in the key in which the candidate will sing. Arrangements can be made with the accompanist before the actual rehearsal.

Movement part

Movement abilities will be assessed in training with elements of classical, modern and jazz dance, overall movement coordination, sense of rhythm, range of motion, and movement memory. Exercise clothing is required for this part of the entrance exam, and the exam is barefoot or in socks.
Candidates will be informed of the details of the entrance exam on the opening day. A longer period of time should be expected.

Acting part

  1. Acting in a dramatic situation according to the applicant’s own imagination (the selection committee may change the circumstances in the creative dialogue with the applicant)
    Two different monologues – excerpts from different plays of your choice – memorized! Duration of each excerpt 2-4 minutes. One monologue of dramatic character, the other monologue of comedic character.
  2. Acting with words
    One poem of your choice – by heart!
    One prose excerpt (by choice) – by heart!
    Each excerpt lasts about 2 minutes. No more!

    For the admissions procedure, please provide a one-page list of all prepared excerpts (author, work, character name) in four copies, signed with your name, as well as four copies of the actual texts of each excerpt (again with the author’s name and the title of the work), including any deletions.
  3. Actor’s portrayal of a person
    Create a portrait (personality sketch) of a person you know by means of actor’s means of expression (word, sound, gesture, movement, singing…).
  4. Ability to improvise in the situation and circumstances given by the committee
    At the discretion of the selection committee, the candidate may not present everything he/she has prepared.

The requirements from Round 1 remain + focus on deepening the examination of acting possibilities and prerequisites, there will be newly assigned compulsory texts (to be specified after Round 1) – more detailed examination of movement (training clothes with you) and vocal disposition (stage speech and singing).

Detailed and concentrated acting work, acting in a dramatic situation, acting in words, dialogue, situations, relationship building, understanding of the given circumstances, expressive malleability and flexibility, variability (new texts and dialogues will be assigned – to be specified after the second round, the third round takes the form of an intensive workshop).

All sub-parts of the individual rounds of the entrance examination are evaluated by a points system. Each round of the entrance exam is scored separately (the scores for the individual rounds are not added together), and you must score at least 60 points out of a total of 100 points to advance to the second round.

In the second round, the threshold for admission is again set at 60 points.

Based on the points obtained, the ranking of applicants is determined and the number of students admitted is as high as the number of students for the specialisation is set for capacity reasons.

Number of applicants accepted for AR 2026/27: 14

After the 1st round of the entrance examination, applicants:
a) who advance to the 2nd round – notification of advancement to the 2nd round with information about the date and specific work assignments will be made public through the E-application application;
b) who do not advance to the 2nd round – decision on non-admission to study (through the E-application application, or by registered mail to the address of permanent residence).

After the 2nd round of the entrance examination, applicants receive:
a) the decision of the Dean of the Faculty of Arts on admission to study in the E-application application, or by registered mail to the address of the permanent residence in case the entrance examination for the given field of study is completed by this second round.
b) the decision of the Dean of the Faculty of Arts on non-admission to study in the E-application application, or by registered mail to the address of the permanent residence in case the entrance examination for the given field of study is completed by this second round.
