Master’s studies
The Master’s degree builds on the knowledge acquired in the Bachelor’s degree and develops the ability to interpret dramatic text and create complex dramaturgical and directorial concepts. You are engaged in independent projects, which you prepare, implement and then analyse. You learn to reflect on your own creative method, to recognize its strengths and weaknesses and to cultivate your own directing style.
In the first year you focus on practical thesis projects, and in the second year you prepare a graduate production at the faculty’s Studio Marta, the Orlí Theatre or in a professional theatre. Part of your studies is also the opportunity to complete an internship in domestic or foreign institutions.
Graduate employment
A graduate of the master’s degree is a fully independent director-artist who can create a unique production concept and implement it in collaboration with a creative team. They can work in professional theatres, radio, television and in projects outside the traditional stage space – in site-specific performances, happenings or experimental forms. He can work as an artistic director of theatre, teacher of acting or directing or continue his doctoral studies.
Study practice
Teaching is based on independent work on staging projects accompanied by intensive mentoring and feedback from teachers. Emphasis is placed on technical skill, analytical thinking and the ability to formulate a clear artistic paradigm corresponding to a personal creative attitude.
Goal of study
Master’s studies lead students to independent authorial and interpretative work. The aim is to train director-artists who can create a distinctive and meaningful theatre work with a strong artistic statement from dramatic and non-dramatic texts.
