Bachelor’s Degree
The Bachelor’s degree will introduce you to all the main forms of dramaturgy: playwriting, practical theatre-creative work including the formation of a dramaturgical concept of theatre and critical/analytical work. The emphasis is on understanding the text and the production process: from the choice of title, analysis and adaptation of the text, through dramaturgical/directorial preparation, to participation in rehearsals and the final production.
Graduate employment
The graduate understands the basics of dramaturgical analysis and theatre operation and is prepared for junior positions in the field and in related cultural professions: lecturer in theatre, programme-organising worker, editor of theatre publications or cultural sections of the media, spokesperson for theatre, reviewer, or teacher at the ZUŠ (drama).
Study practice
Lectures and seminars on the history and theory of theatre are permanently linked to practice. In projects, students test dramaturgical analysis, conceptual thinking and team communication; they progress from small dialogical units (in collaboration with the acting studios) to undergraduate projects. This includes systematic reflection on various types of production (analyses, seminar papers) and work on their own original texts, performed, for example, in the Salon of Original Works. Visiting professionals enter the teaching process in the form of workshops and internships in professional theatres.
Goal of study
To prepare a qualified dramaturg capable of providing suggestions and creating short- and long-term concepts (dramaturgical plan of the season, stage profiles), co-creating the dramaturgical and directorial concept of a production, continuously analysing and correcting the creative process and writing professional texts (studies, analyses, programme texts).
