Theatre Directing

Maximum number of applicants accepted: 3

Applications must be submitted by 30 November 2025.

The 1st round of entrance examinations will take place between 12 January 2026 and 15 February 2026.
The 2nd round of entrance examinations will take place during March and April 2026.

These dates are indicative, the faculty has the right to change the time frame in which the admission procedure will take place. The exact date of the admissions examination can be found in the invitation to the admissions procedure.

  • Annex 1 – REQUIRED – copy of the graduation certificate or catalogue list of grades (if you have not yet graduated, you will send a copy of the graduation certificate later, after the graduation) – this is not a simple confirmation of studies.
  • Annex 2 – REQUIRED – structured CV in Czech language.
  • Annex 3 – REQUIRED – upload the completed assignments according to the assignmentby 9 January 2026, which will be uploaded to the E-Application application after the closing date for submission of the application, i.e. after 30 November 2025.
  • Annex 4 – REQUIRED – medical certificate of fitness to study at university (download the form here). Medical certificate is required due to the mental and physical demands of studying.
  • Annex 5 – OPTIONAL – copy of diploma (in case of already obtained academic degree).

It is not possible to submit the application without uploading the required attachments!

  • strong talent requirements for their chosen field,
  • a full secondary education or a full vocational secondary education with a secondary school leaving certificate,
  • intellectual aptitude (ability to make independent judgements, good level of general knowledge, strong interest in the chosen field of study),
  • good health and physical disposition.

The Admissions Committee evaluates:

  • imagination and fantasy;
  • the ability to provide original and original solutions to the given situations;
  • critical thinking and reasoning skills;
  • ability to analyse assigned dramatic and literary works (in terms of the discipline);
  • creativity and creative abilities (including own original literary, artistic, musical…);
  • a strong cultural and social outlook, an exceptional interest in theatre and various types of art, knowledge of important works and representatives of various types of art;
  • interview over the submitted works;
  • personal motivation to study.

It will be further screened as part of the admissions process:

  • cultural insight, including knowledge of important works of art past and present;
  • knowledge of plays and theatre productions and their creators;
  • Talent – the ability to create a story on a specific topic or within a specific
    situation.

The Admissions Committee primarily evaluates:

  • the ability to spatially resolve given situations and the prerequisites for working with actors based on
    given dialogue or theme;
  • the ability of conceptual visual and imaginative imagination;
  • the ability to navigate in the field of theatre, formulate opinions, take positions;
  • knowledge of a foreign language (English or German);
  • The interview includes a debate on the submitted work and a psychological personality test.

All sub-parts of the individual rounds of the entrance examination are evaluated by a points system. Each round of the entrance exam is scored separately (the scores for the individual rounds are not added together), and you must score at least 60 points out of a total of 100 points to advance to the second round.

In the second round, the threshold for admission is again set at 60 points.

Based on the points obtained, the ranking of applicants is determined and the number of students admitted is as high as the number of students for the specialisation is set for capacity reasons.

Number of applicants accepted for AR 2026/27: 3

After the 1st round of the entrance examination, applicants:
a) who advance to the 2nd round – notification of advancement to the 2nd round with information about the date and specific work assignments will be made public through the E-application application;
b) who do not advance to the 2nd round – decision on non-admission to study (through the E-application application, or by registered mail to the address of permanent residence).

After the 2nd round of the entrance examination, applicants receive:
a) the decision of the Dean of the Faculty of Arts on admission to study in the E-application application, or by registered mail to the address of the permanent residence in case the entrance examination for the given field of study is completed by this second round.
b) the decision of the Dean of the Faculty of Arts on non-admission to study in the E-application application, or by registered mail to the address of the permanent residence in case the entrance examination for the given field of study is completed by this second round.
