Theatre Management

The two-year follow-up Master’s degree in Theatre Production identifies talent and skills for future work as a producer of artistic projects and institutions.

Applications must be submitted by 31 March 2026.

The admission procedure for the two-year Master’s follow-up studies takes place on the following dates 15 – 19 June 2026.

  • Annex 1 – Copy of the document (diploma) of completion of the Bachelor’s degree (if you do not have it yet, you will deliver it no later than on the day of the entrance examination; if it has not been delivered to you for time reasons, you will deliver a certificate from the Study Department of the relevant school stating that you have successfully passed the state examinations and defended your Bachelor’s thesis, and you will deliver a copy of the document (diploma) immediately after receiving it. Otherwise, you will not be allowed to take the entrance exam.
  • Annex 2 – Structured CV in Czech language.
  • Annex 3 – Certificate of medical fitness to study at university (form available for download here). A medical certificate is required due to the mental and physical demands of study.
  • Annex 4 – Master’s study plan (minimum 4 standard pages) containing the future study and professional profile including the topic and research plan of the future master’s thesis.
  • Appendix 5 – Portfolio – a complete list and sample of important seminary and term papers (from the course of study to date, at least two papers submitted are required) and a complete list and sample of documentation of important production and artistic projects completed, showing your share of production, including references (at least two papers submitted are required). If your portfolio has been prepared electronically in a web-based environment, it can be hyperlinked in the submitted text (see previous point) – i.e. in the Master’s study plan.
    Applicants – graduates of related study programmes – will also attach their final qualification thesis or the current status of their bachelor’s thesis at the submission deadline, which they can do again by means of a functional link to the public part of the relevant study system or by inserting it as an attachment to the application (if the thesis has not yet been published). The defended bachelor thesis will then be presented physically at the interview by applicants – graduates of related study programmes.

It is not possible to submit the application without uploading the required attachments!

  • A full university bachelor’s degree in the relevant field of study of the programme “Dramatic Arts” or a related programme of study*.
    *) A related specialisation of the Bachelor’s degree is considered to be a specialisation whose outputs (acquired knowledge and skills of the student, his/her professional equipment and focus) correspond to the outputs of the Bachelor’s degree in the same field of study; the accreditation of the Ministry of Education and Science (description of the field of study) or the Diploma Supplement is used for the assessment of the related specialisation; the faculty may request additional materials (study card, study report, annotations of the courses of study, etc.).
  • Creative and intellectual aptitudes (ability to make independent judgments, good level of general knowledge, strong interest in the chosen specialisation).
  • Good physical and mental condition.

The admission procedure for the two-year Master’s follow-up study at the Theatre Faculty of JAMU is one-round.

The entrance examination takes the form of an interview over the materials sent and submitted. The talent and abilities for future work as a producer/team of artistic projects and institutions, as well as professional and creative aptitudes for the study of the chosen field, possible modifications of the plans and the applicant’s readiness to fulfill his/her plans are tested. The interview with the committee also includes a proposal for a study or work placement carried out in connection with the future professional focus of the Master’s degree.

All parts of the entrance examination are assessed by a points system. The maximum total number of points is 100, the point threshold for admission is set at 60 points. Based on the points obtained, the ranking of applicants is determined and the number of students admitted is as high as the number of students for the specialisation is set for capacity reasons.

After passing the entrance examination, applicants receive:
a) the decision of the Dean of the Faculty of Arts on admission to study in the E-application application, or by registered mail to the address of permanent residence.
b) the decision of the Dean of the Faculty of Arts on non-admission to study in the E-application application, or by registered mail to the address of permanent residence.
