Theatre Management

The Bachelor of Theatre Production programme accepts applicants who have an overview of and interest in culture and who are familiar with public administration and cultural funding. They are able to think logically and systemically, and have good formulation, presentation and communication skills. They are independent, proactive and creative and are not afraid to solve problems creatively. They have a desire to organise, collaborate and be part of a wider team. They are interested in the environment, actively seek information (proficient in information technology) and are able to respond flexibly to changing conditions.

Applications must be submitted until 28 February 2026.

1. Round 1 and Round 2 admissions will take place during March and April 2026. The anticipated date for Round 1 admissions is Saturday 14 March 2026 or 21 March 2026, and the anticipated date for Round 2 is 24-25 April 2026.
Round 1 is one day, reserve two days for Round 2.

!Estimated dates are subject to change, as the exact date depends on the central deadline of the written final exam.

These dates are indicative, the faculty has the right to change the time frame in which the admission procedure will take place. The exact date of the admissions examination can be found in the invitation to the admissions procedure.

  • Annex 1 – REQUIRED – copy of the graduation certificate or catalogue list of grades (if you have not yet graduated, you will send a copy of the graduation certificate later, after the graduation) – this is not a simple confirmation of studies.
  • Annex 2 – REQUIRED – structured CV in Czech language.
  • Annex 3 – REQUIRED – medical certificate of fitness to study at university (form available for download here). Medical certificate is required due to the mental and physical demands of studying.
  • Annex 4 – OPTIONAL – copy of diploma (in case of already obtained academic degree).

It is not possible to submit the application without uploading the required attachments!

For the second round of the admission procedure, you can bring documents that illustrate your interest in the field: a portfolio consisting of completed projects, references, etc.

The admission procedure is used to check the talent and skills for future work as a stage manager.

  • strong talent requirements for their chosen field,
  • a full secondary education or a full vocational secondary education with a secondary school leaving certificate,
  • intellectual aptitude (ability to make independent judgements, good level of general knowledge, strong interest in the chosen field of study),
  • good health and physical disposition.

We’ll check with you in the first round:

  • cultural outlook;
  • creative problem solving;
  • Management thinking skills (ability to think logically and understand unfamiliar text and basic understanding of industry terminology);
  • management and decision-making skills;
  • self-assessment of own role in the team (non-scored part).

For the second round of the admission procedure, you can bring documents that illustrate your interest in the field: a portfolio consisting of completed projects, references, etc.

The test consists of two parts:

A) WRITTEN
We test your knowledge of the English language (in the written test you must achieve at least B1 level), your ability to work with information and to argue on a given topic.

B) INTERVIEW WITH THE COMMITTEE
In this we will focus on your motivation and aptitude to study (including a discussion of any projects and work experience you may have undertaken, the discussion can be supported by relevant project documentation or a portfolio of projects). We will also look at your ability to communicate and express yourself promptly. Last but not least, we will test your knowledge of basic information about theatre operations, economics, sociology, psychology, cultural institutions and the cultural, theatrical and social system of the country.

All sub-parts of the individual rounds of the entrance examination are evaluated by a points system. Each round of the entrance exam is scored separately (the scores for the individual rounds are not added together), and you must score at least 60 points out of a total of 100 points to advance to the second round.

In the second round, the threshold for admission is again set at 60 points and a B1 level of English language proficiency.
Based on the points obtained, the ranking of the applicants is determined and as many students are admitted as the number set for the specialisation for capacity reasons.

Number of applicants accepted for AR 2026/27: 15

After the 1st round of the entrance examination, applicants:
a) who advance to the 2nd round – notification of advancement to the 2nd round with information about the date and specific work assignments will be made public through the E-application application;
b) who do not advance to the 2nd round – decision on non-admission to study (through the E-application application, or by registered mail to the address of permanent residence).

After the 2nd round of the entrance examination, applicants receive:
a) the decision of the Dean of the Faculty of Arts on admission to study in the E-application application, or by registered mail to the address of the permanent residence in case the entrance examination for the given field of study is completed by this second round.
b) the decision of the Dean of the Faculty of Arts on non-admission to study in the E-application application, or by registered mail to the address of the permanent residence in case the entrance examination for the given field of study is completed by this second round.
